The plastics and rubber industry has been declared the most innovative sector of all 58 SME sectors in the Netherlands. The PVT represents the plastics converting companies in the Netherlands.
In her activities the PVT focuses on: (production) technology and innovation in plastics.

Target group
PVT activities are intended for the associated member companies. Although they use different production technologies, members all have thermoplastics processing in common. PVT is thus a representative party, looking after the interests of plastic processors in the Netherlands. 

One can consider PVT member companies medium-size and small businesses (SME's). The trade association also reflects the plastics industry well in this aspect: about 80 to 90% of the companies within the industry have fewer than 50 employees.

Activities
1. Dissemination / Knowledge transfer
The PVT participates in a number of (research) projects on technological as well as strategic topics. Examples are the European Research projects Hipermoulding (mould makers and injection moulders) and T-ForM (thermoforming companies). In order to stimulate innovation the PVT organizes every year – together with partners – workshops with practical lectures so participants can adapt the knowledge in their companies.

2. Networking
The PVT offers the member companies opportunities to network. Due to the fact that plastic converters use different techniques, e.g. injection moulding, thermoforming, extrusion, blow moulding, the PVT works with a cluster approach. This enables effective networking. Besides every year an event for managing directors only is organised. 

3. Services
The PVT provides tangible support for operational management of the member companies, e.g.:

• sales conditions and purchase conditions (in several languages);
• Arbocatalogus Thermoplast, this document forms the guideline for the Arbeidsinspectie since January 2011 (hyperlink via the homepage of www.pvt.nl);
• helpdesk for REACH, safety and environment.

4. Lobby
The PVT is associated with the rubber and plastics industry umbrella organisation, the NRK Federation. Regular PVT members are therefore also members of the Federation. PVT looks after the interests of the plastic processors within the NRK ranks.
